My husband Jerry made this cool coffee table from a reclaimed vintage window. The window came from a Florida home built in the 1950's and is made of Cypress wood. We decided to make a storage compartment under the glass by constructing a box for the table base. This leaves about a four inch tall space in which to hide the remote control from your dog. Or your husband, if you bury it under magazines. (The remote, not your husband.) :-)
See the step-by-step process below. Hope you enjoy, and thanx for looking!

Started with a simple box constructed of reclaimed wood. The doctors say he should regain full use of the thumb he hammered during the construction of this simple box. |
Windows 6? Sorry Mr. Gates... :-) |
Close up of chippy paint, which was sealed in place with two coats of matte finish polyurethane to protect it and prevent further chipping. |
Umm.... legs. Don't know what else to say. :-) |
Side view of base and legs, plus trim. Beginning to take shape...... |
Top view of table and storage space. Blanket underneath table during painting protects both floor and husband from damage, prolonging the lives of both. |
Window attached using original hinges. Table painted a distressed off-white. |
Glass knob added to lift window for easy access to storage compartment. |

Open Sesame! |

Finito!
