Rustic Trunk or Treasure Chest
The photos below are of a trunk we "upcycled" from it's plain, dull, boring previous life as a simple wooden box with a lid. My husband Jerry is hoping someone will buy his creation so he can afford a hairpiece. :-) .... or maybe a cap.

Nothing like a hobby you can do sitting down. :-) |

After sanding, a coat of Ipswich Pine stain... |
A Mexican style iron lock hasp was added to give this old trunk some much needed character. |
Jerry then attached the chains you see as a lid stop. Next:... "MMOOO!" |
A piece of iron cattle harness makes a nice top handle. |
Back shot shows off the rich, rustic woodgrain. |
A cool vintage lock found on a trip to Key Largo, FL adds the treasure chest look. |
Voila! She eez dun! Vintage iron clavos are added to the top and front to complete the look. Finally, a couple coats of matte finish polyurethane are added to protect the trunk, while preserving the non-glossy antique feel. I hope you enjoy looking at as much as we enjoyed creating it!
